Newsletter #1/2016

Beitrag von Affe »

Tach gesagt,

hier mal der Newsletter von gestern Abend:
Liebe Fusionist:innen,

Ende Gelände oder was?

Eure Fusion Crew

Dear Fusionists,

With the sun back out and our minds starting to drift to the summer festival season, it would have been hard not to notice that Fusion is now only a few weeks away. It’s been six months since our last newsletter, so it’s high time we brought you up to speed with all the latest information.

It is a bit difficult, though, to send a general and enthusiastic newsletter to 100,000 Fusionists when many of you won’t be able to party with us this year due to having lost out in the ticketing ballot. We really hope just as much as you do that you find other lovely festivals that can quench your summer party thirst.

But setting aside our sincere sympathy for those that can’t make it, let’s look forwards to the 20th Fusion Festival – especially as it really is full steam ahead here, both in the offices and on the site. The bookings are as good as finished and, from June onwards, we’ll start gradually announcing some of the gems we have in store. By 22 June you’ll be able to see all of the confirmed acts on the website and the full line-up and timetable will be in the Festival Guide that you receive upon arrival. Suffice to say that, alongside lots of newbies and unknowns, you’ll be seeing some of the old favourites who’ve left their mark in past years and are now returning to Lärz for our 20th year.

WEDNESDAY

As seems to have become general knowledge by now, 2016 will be the first year when the festival starts on Wednesday. But that doesn’t mean that the open-air floors will ramp up a day earlier; they’ll be starting from 6pm on Thursday as normal.
But it does mean that the magic lasts one day more. Fusion will start from 6pm on Wednesday on various stages with an exquisite programme of concerts, theatre, circus, and music.

Wednesday will have lots more in store including:
- Spaces for more mellow sounds
- Time for discussion
- Chances to meet old and new friends
- Opportunities to chill and barbeque
- The chance to explore the festival site…

In other words: an extensive but relaxed programme that allows everyone to gently drift into the Fusion cosmos.

One thing we have heard, though, is that it seems that the Wednesday start has led to some rumours that the festival doors and gates will be opened earlier this year. This is not true!

DOORS OPEN : WEDNESDAY 6 a.m.

The festival gates will open on Wednesday at 6am and the line-ups and programme will not start before 6pm.

We therefore urge you in the strongest possible terms NOT to arrive before Wednesday. If you do, it’ll result in no small amount of annoyance and chaos and will, ultimately, just cause delays for everyone arriving on Wednesday. It will not be possible to enter the festival site on Tuesday and there won’t be any parking or camping facilities outside the festival site then either. The first shuttle buses will leave Neustrelitz at 8am on Wednesday.

Partly because of poor organisation and planning, many of you had to endure massive waiting times when entering and leaving the festival last year. We have put a lot of thought and effort into making sure that that you’ll be able to get in and out a lot easier this year.
For all that to work, though, it’s really important that you pay attention to the new systems that we’ve put in place.

As of now, you can find all the important information about this year’s festival at www.fusion-festival.de.

RUMOURS

Of all the absurd rumours we’ve heard flying around, the one that this 20th Fusion will be the last is the best of the lot. You think this is another “Ende Gelände”? Stopping after twenty years of development and investment in the festival site?

Let us take this opportunity to say loud and clear that this is not true. Fusion and at.tension festivals will continue to take place on the site in Lärz well into the future. And the Kulturkomos Müritz Association will continue to use the site just as we always have done and to party there with you for a long time to come!

Nevertheless, we have been questioning whether we can keep up the pace of the last few years without a break or without exhausting our strength, our ideals and our ideas. Of course, we’ll keep you updated as far as this discussion is concerned and the date of the next Fusion will, as ever, be printed on the back of the festival wristband…

To sign off, we’d just like to say that you really are the coolest festival and party collective that we could ever wish for – precisely because you’re such an amazingly diverse and eclectic group!
