Chapter 2: The Search for the Last Fusion Ticket

Good Afternoon everyone,

I wasn't able to post an update yesterday, I was at work all day and had a DJ gig after, by the time I got home it was way past midnight and I had to get up early today to go to work again . So I really didn't find the time. That means, today is gonna be a double update !

The past 2 days have been uneventful Ticket-wise but that does not mean they weren't interesting!
Thursday I was basically down all day. What I didn't know then, but do know now, is that I was having a migraine - one of the bad ones too. I tried to push through, but could barely look at screens, let alone feed myself. How I didn't realize it was a migraine? Beats me .

Thursday was not just pain and suffering though (lol), one of the people reading this blog actually sent me a message and offered encouragement! That honestly made my day!
I'm sure you guys feel it too, the Ticket-Search feels so lonely sometimes. Between countless forum posts filled with emojis, someone typing "up" or just copy and pasting the same message over and over again, you start feeling like you're the only human - that you are the only being made from flesh on this search . It sounds ridiculous, but have you heard of the "dead internet theory"? The forum reminds me of that a lot.
Hearing from someone else that's currently searching and going through the same struggles made me feel a lot less lonely. And they said the same thing - reading my posts made them feel less lonely. It gave me a sense of purpose on this search . Not only am I looking for a ticket, but I can also inspire others while doing so. That was truly amazing to realize .

Yesterday, I still had a mirgraine (which I still hadn't realized at the time). I went to work and tried my best to watch the forums closely. As I'm watching the forum I get an adrenaline rush - someone had just posted a ticket! I rushed to send a message, in less than 5 minutes the post was already flooded by people looking for a ticket. I tried regardless, with a more personalized message, not just copy & paste. After I commented, I looked at the post again. All of a sudden a post offering a Ticket had been changed to a post looking for one. Offering the Ticket was simply a tactic to get people to engage with it . It was frustrating. I edited my comment to say "Nevermind, someone must have changed their mind.", but Nevermind was not the right wording here. I DID mind, so many people got their hopes up. In the end, the poster just edited the post to only say ".". I'm assuming they must've gotten a bunch of messages, why they did that is still beyond me though ...

I also took Tonys advice and tried to be less of a stranger on the forums again. I posted a question, which I was super nervous about. I asked about karaoke at the festival. Karaoke is my favorite thing to do. I received some help and will definitely look for karaoke spots when I make it to Fusion! Who will come sing with me ???

Other than that I ended up rushing to my DJ gig after work. That's when I finally realized I was having a migraine since thursday. The lights there made it so much worse. But I powered through and had a great night regardless! I played 80s and 90s music, not my usual, but I can adapt .

Right?? I hope to actually find some time and sing some karaoke too, I'm so excited!

One of my friends actually stopped by my work 2 hours ago to give me some medicine. My vision was going blurry in my right eye, which is kinda where we drew the line. I don't like taking medicine, but it was definitely needed! I'm feeling a little weak now, my body reacts very strongly to medication, but it is honestly so much better than anything else, the migraine was worse than that! I am really greatful for my friend .

Good Afternoon to the lovely people of this Forum!

You might have noticed, I skipped yet another day and am again posting 2 updates at once. I like this format. I feel with the daily updates I really don't have a lot to share. Since so many people are looking for tickets right now the search has become extra hard with very little progress. Instead of just saying "Day x: no news" I feel I can ramble a little more when combining 2 days in 1 post. What do you guys think about the format change?

That being said, there is really no news .
I'll still tell you a little about my days.

Saturday I was really frustrated, my friend that's looking to come with me to fusion informed me that they have not yet taken the time off, since we don't have Tickets yet . Knowing how a lot of german companies operate I was very concerned that she wasn't gonna be able to take time off so short notice. She hadn't even given them a little heads up that she might go, so I was sure that this would be a problem later ...

It was a hard situation for me, I understand why she hadn't put in the vacation request, since she doesn't know if we will find Tickets. I know it would be a lot to ask of her to take time off that she wouldn't get back otherwise, I felt selfish even thinking that. Yet on the other hand I was feeling like a drill sergeant ready to go "You're lacking the fusion spirit! With this attitude you will never make it there!" - Probably a truthful statement, but not exactly helpful .
The whole conversation made me feel like I'm the only one that cares enough to go. I am also the only one actively looking for a ticket in the forums etc. She has not made a single effort towards finding one. I don't blame her for it, all of this is so new to her, I don't mind looking for her too, but her not preparing her work for the vacation offended me a lot. I spend hours a day searching the forum for our tickets, yet she didn't even have a 10 minute conversation with her boss .

I had to take a step back and refocus. This plan to go and the search for the Ticket should not be one filled with stress and frustration. Whatever happens will happen regardless of my feelings . I can't change my friend, neither should I want to, but I can change my own personal feelings. My frustration won't get me a ticket, it won't make her feel more comfortable, it won't give me the energy I need. All it will do is make me upset.
What I need is MOTIVATION! Motivation is what will give me that energy, Motivation is what brings solution !

After realizing this, I let my friend know that if she wants to go with me, she should at least give her boss a little heads up and let him know that she might put in a last minute vacation request. I also let her know looking for a ticket herself might help. But that's it. I recognized that's all I could do and I shouldn't let it sour my mood further.

Sunday was very uneventful ticket-wise, I didn't have a lot of time to check for anything. My friends and I went to a local africa festival. It was an interesting experience though, a lot of it reminded me of fusion. Some of the vendors sold things that you would expect to see at Fusion, so it got me super hyped for next week. The food was amazing too! I love Fufu, but I rarely eat it since it's so much work making it at home (I cook from scratch most of the time). I was happy to finally have it again. I hope to find something similar to eat at Fusion. African food is where my heart lies! We'll see, but I remember the food being amazing 2 years ago, so I'm not too worried .

I know exactly how you feel. I wrote my post because I was reminded of that exact thing, letting go, halfway through my journey of finding a ticket. And it helped me; cope better, accept all circumstances, write better, connect better. That’s just it!

New Achievement: Joyous realizations

I am back with yet another update! The search is going as expected... no Ticket yet :,)!
People have been reaching out to me though and telling me they have been successful in the past few days and to stay hopeful, so that's what I'll do !

Day 18 was good. My friend finally let me know that she gave her boss a heads up, so a lot of my anxiety has been eased regarding her not being able to take time off . Her boss laughed, apparently he's been to fusion before, he doesn't think we'll find tickets, but we'll show him !
Besides that I also got a lovely message from someone on the forum offering to help me on my search !

Yesterday this person and I ended up connecting on whatsapp (if you're reading this: you know who you are ;D) and they immediately shared an Idea of possibly getting a ticket with me. It ended up not working out but I was still so greatful for the attempt, it was really meaningful .
I feel like I'm making so many friends on this search!

These past few days I've been thinking about this whole journey a lot. This time I've spent searching so far and the people I've met has been so meaningful . A lot of things, that have affected me negatively, have happened in my life in these past few weeks. I wouldn't really show it, but it's been rough. Yet this search continued, no matter what life threw at me . In a way, the Search for a Fusion Ticket has given me purpose. I know it sounds dramatic, but thats how I truly feel! People I've never met are rooting for me, showing me kindness in places I've never expected and sending me encouragement. It's made this whole search magical for me .

My Plan now is to keep trying but really lock in on Sunday, as far as I've been tracking that's when a lot of Tickets start being posted. Wish me luck!
