Simple improvements to the Forum -- opinions?

Beitrag von irrelevant »

For the 1st time this year, I participated very actively here (as I guess maybe has been obvious; my posts in English must stick out like a sore thumb). The forum is superb in its simplicity, but I still would like to suggest a few tweaks to improve it, which shouldn't be too hard or time-consuming to implement. As it is, IMO, eventually it gets quite messy.

1) Divide the Search & Offer Festival Tickets into one Search, and one Offer category.

2) Separate the bus posts from Arrival & Carpooling (i.e. make a Search & Offer Bus Tickets category).

The categories would then look like this:

Search Festival Tickets
Offer Festival Tickets
Search & Offer Sunday Tickets
Search & Offer Bus Tickets
Arrival & Carpooling
Search & Offer Company

3) This might be trickier, but hopefully not: A function to easily mark one's post (for searching/offering) "Found". Preferably it would also move the post either to the bottom of the inquiries, or to a separate section altogether. People forget, or ignore, to edit their posts once they get what they want, and it gets time-consuming finding "active" requests.

What are your thoughts on the above?
It's not about making the world a better place; it's about making ourselves better persons. The rest comes naturally.

I like it.

Another proposal: Also add a "thumbs up / thumbs down" button to posts. So often I would like to agree with somebody here, but don't feel the need to add an additional post to a topic. With a thumbs up/down system we can easily get a feeling for how well-received an idea is

YES, thanks for that (obvious) one. Did think of it, but slipped my mind.

I actually really like this old school Bulletin Board. But that may or may not indicate that I'm getting old..
I don't think thumbs up or down significantly improves social media.

This is in other Forums often casually by the admins or mods (marked as [DONE], [SOLVED] etc.), but the users here in this Forum can also easily change the topic by their own, but I guess most of them are so overwhelmingly happy when they get the ticket, that they forget it! ;-)

That said, I wish there would be more mods, who are better connected to the KuKo - maybe only a couple of month before the Fusion starts.

Same here. I also don't need an upvote or downvote function. Threats that get less interest from the community automatically disappear at the bottom. That's enough for me.

I also like the old style phpBB board, I grew up with this type of forum and felt old when someone here mentioned that it's their first forum post

Maybe it wasn't clear from my post: I don't want a voting system which is then used by some algorithm to boost posts or burry them depending on likes. The only thing I want is that for each post we have a little counter how many people pressed thumbs-up and thumbs-down. Especially in this forum I often see posts where I think "That's valuable information", "I totally agree with this post" or "I would have written the same". Here I can now decide to not do anything (my opinion is invisible), or to post an answer with "agree" (my opinion takes a lot of space and pollutes the discussion).

I do too, I just want a couple more categories for visibility (more or less). :)
