As someone with a degree in AI, I really hope whoever wrote this is not serious. So far LLMs have not had a positive impact on humanity in any way and we as a society should be extremely weary to give even more control than we already do to non accountable algorithms. These models are already starting to be used for mass surveillance and control purposes and they will soon eat an ungodly amount of energy and resources.

A way more interesting workshop would be "how can we resist tech monopolies while still staying open and utilizing new technologies for left wing emancipatory aims"...
But yea open up a cannabis dropshipping business or something

I want AI to wash my clothes, not do my creative tasks ;-)

You'll have AI robots doing just that.

I'll show a few examples in my presentation and you can ask me anything in the Q&A.

While your points are all valid, I would not say AI did not have any positive impact on humanity. Ask people working in software development, knowledge workers, copy writers, journalists, students, …

BUT I totally agree that AI should be democratized and controlled so it’s not used by tech monopolists and states to gain more control about our lifes

THIS. And even if there are pros with it: if we accept those, we also have to accept all the cons -- which far outweigh IMO.

One of innumerable examples:
https://www.politico.eu/article/spot-de ... eyes-ears/?

Not least do we learn ourselves by thinking and doing. If we always have something else do it for us (which risks outsmarting us eventually), we are just dumbing ourselves own (even more, than all these screens and smartphones already do).
It's not about making the world a better place; it's about making ourselves better persons. The rest comes naturally.

Ok this was a bit of a hyperbole but look at economic incentives around LLMs.
It will not allow you to actually create something that is new and better and higher quality, rather overall it will just allow anyone that needs to generate something barely plausible to do that for cheaper. Journalism as a profession has definitely not been improved by the existence of LLMs, same for software development imo. This weird thing where job applicants use AI to write their CV and HR departments use AI to sift through applicants is pure corporate dysfunction.

I have friends that do concept art and digital art in general and while it was already very hard to get paid doing that type of work in the past, it's almost impossible now because a lot of customers just want an AI picture that looks fine at first glance instead of actually hiring someone to do proper creative work.

Variety is important in any creative and technical process, and LLMs are set up to naturally tend towards the mean

In some cases I do not want to echo, but need to return the content of:

get_page_content;

get_component;

======================================

The following does not work:

get_page_contentfalse;
return_page_content;

get_componentfalse;
return_component;

======================================

Does anyone know a way to make return work for this ?
This is a lovely example for how LLMs are used for bad. This bot seems especially confused...
