How to delete PMs? Function doesn't work -- SOLVED

I can't seem to be able to delete PMs, no matter how I try (using the features shown, which SHOULD allow for it). Have messaged the superuser, but they haven't read it for a while. What to do, it's filling up fast? Thanks in advance!

Yes, it works for me. In the folder (where only the title is visible) I can select messages with a checkbox, then below the list on the right I can select "delete marked messages", and then confirm.

works in my case. tried on windows pc with chrome.
i remember things looking different on Android and maybe other platforms too.
If sure the regular way does not work i would log out, clear cache, log in and try again

or try this:
go to personal space->rules, folders and settings
-create a new folder with a funny name
then below ->if the folder is full: Move to folder: choose the funny named folder

but that might collide with an overall limit

Thanks both. I tried both ways it's possible, and can click what I need, but the messages remain. Maybe too old version of Chrome (laptop only). I'll try on Brave, and also the login/logout suggestion. Outbox is at 97 % ...

And yes, thought of that workaround too, but suspect it would only move things around.

EDIT: I can't log in at all on FF, and Brave. It says it's the wrong PW although it's the right one. In Chrome, I have the same error after clearing cache & relogging in (mark for deletion, confirm deletion, messages remain).

Nope. On my own laptops (WinXP and Win7, both Pro) I can only LOG IN on Chrome. Neither FF or Brave work. And I can't delete messages when logged in.

Went to a neighbor who has Win11, and there I can't log in AT ALL, even if logged out at home (first tried logged in there). We tried FF and downloaded Chrome JUST to try it. And his live-in friend's cell phone (also Chrome) didn't work to even log in on either.

The level of frustration is on 11.

wot? that sounds incredibly strange. I regularly log in with firefox on linux, and firefox on android, never had any problem. The used forum software is also quite standard, simple, and old (read well-tested).

Right? I've worked w/ IT support myself (for 10 years) some time ago, so I'm not completely retarded around it (although newer tech can both give weird error messages, and isn't as intuitive as old, IMO). Just can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work, when it works for "everyone else" (it seems).

Gonna try having my Mom log me in on her laptop tomorrow (guessing Win10?), but if that doesn't work either, I'm at my wit's end.

Okay, since you worked in IT support I feel comfortable doing this, you know that the customer is always stupid and misses something crucial I'll explain step-by-step what I did to delete my messages. No offense to your abilities intended, just trying to be helpful.

I'm not sure if the forum software is in German or English for you, I'm assuming German.

First, go to "Private Nachrichten" in the top right.
Below the list of messages, on the right there is a link "Alle markieren" (mark all). Click it.
Right above the "Alle markieren", there is a box where you can select "Markierte löschen" (delete marked).
To the right of this box, there is a button "Los" (go). Click it.
In the next step, you have to confirm with "Ja" (yes) that you want to delete all marked messages.

Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to spell it out -- but
1) it translates to EN via Google Translate and
2) that's exactly what I've been doing a million times during several days now, off and on. Not marking all messages, but those I want deleted. I tried in the In- and Outbox, and I also tried being "inside" a message, clicking the X to delete, and then continuing. Window refreshes, but when it reloads the darn messages are STILL there.

Not to mention it's uber weird that I can't log in on any other browser, or unit! I even tried with an old account I forgot the UN to (why I created this one). I do not get it!

UPDATE: Progress. Now I was able to log in to my other account, still on Chrome. Going to test a bit in there.
